To respond to our diverse clientele, DynaSec brings decades of investigative and security consulting experience in both the private and government sectors. DynaSec’s investigators and consultants are twenty-plus year veterans of the FBI and have worked in the private sector for over fifteen years.

Thomas LaFreniere, President & CEO

Tom LaFreniere is the founder and President of DynaSec International. He is a licensed Private Investigator, a Certified Fraud Examiner, ISO 28000 Certified Auditor, Certified under the American Water Infrastructure Act, and an active member of the ASIS International.

Mr. LaFreniere has conducted investigations in the private sector for over 15 year. He has done security consulting, to include threat and vulnerability assessments, for private, corporate and government entities; including residential, schools, ranch land, office complexes, manufacturing, wineries, high rise buildings, metropolitan transportation, and water utilities.


 Mr. LaFreniere’s background includes thirty years federal law enforcement experience,  four years as a Marine Corps officer, and two years as a Mechanical Engineer. As Special Agent and Supervisory Special Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, he conducted and supervised investigations involving government fraud, money laundering, kidnapping, fugitives, violent gangs, organized crime, and narcotics trafficking. He supervised the San Francisco Joint Terrorism Task Force. He was a member and instructor for a counter-terrorism tactical team in the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, and for seventeen years, was a member and/or team leader for the San francisco FBI SWAT program. Mr. LaFreniere was the Primary Crisis Management Coordinator for the San Francisco Division of the FBI.  He wrote the Crisis Response Plan, designed the Emergency Operation Center and Mobile Tactical Operation Center, and staffed and trained the Crisis Management Team.   Thomas LaFreniere has also planned for and coordinated  multi-jurisdictional training exercises.  As a Certified Police Instructor, he has provided training in counter-terrorism, crisis management, and tactics on four different continents. 

Mr. LaFreniere has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and was a project manager for the Army Corps of Engineers.

Kevin D. Johnson, Senior Investigator/Consultant

Kevin Johnson is ISO 28000 certified, has membership in the National Tactical Officer's Association, the High Tech Crime Investigation Association, and the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI.

Kevin D. Johnson is a thirty-three year veteran of local and federal law enforcement. He began his career as a Nuclear Security Specialist with the United States Army Military Police Corps. He then spent seven years as a Deputy Sheriff and Patrol Sergeant with the Ward County Sheriff's Department, Minot, ND. Finally, Mr. Johnson served for over twenty-three years as a Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

As an FBI Special Agent, Mr. Johnson conducted investigations into violent crime, such as street gang violence, bank robberies, and child abductions. He participated as a lead investigator of a multi-agency task force that targeted violent gang activity in the San Francisco Bay Area. Mr. Johnson was responsible for the initiation and operation of the San Francisco franchise of the Innocent Images National Initiative, which targeted the exploitation of children by sexual predators via the Internet. Through this initiative, Mr Johnson gained experience in conducting Internet investigations and has utilized forensic previewing software to review and analyze digital evidence. He made numerous presentations on Internet Safety and Internet Investigations.

In addition to his investigative assignments, Mr. Johnson served for over 18 years as a member of the San Francisco FBI SWAT Team. He served as a tactical operator, assault team leader, and ended his career as the Senior SWAT Team Leader. He was responsible for the planning, implementation, and execution of high risk tactical operations. He has experience in SWAT tactics and procedures, force protection/dignitary protection, and the integration of tactical operations with other elements of the FBI Crisis Management team.
